Council that a group calling itself "TI.e Anonymous Committee =or

the Abolition oa the Prohibition against Plarlyuana` ils attempting

to place en in1tiative on the ballot to ahead the State Constitu-

tion to legalize the manufacture, sale, purchase, possession, ane
11
transportation of marijuana within the State of California; and

MmER`iS, it is common knowledge that the use of mar-.-

Juana tends to lead to the use of hard narcotics such as ..eroin;

1HMZ &S, leading law enforcement officials throughout

the State strongly oppose this proposed initiative; and

FkMIREAS, the legalizing of marijuana would serve only to

compound what is now one of the most serious and perple-xing
19
problems facing t4 >e State of California and would create a clear

and present danger to the health, safety and welfare of all of our
21
citizens; and

the serious problems that would result if this initiative were

adopted;

the City of Zewport Beach is vigorously opposed to the proposed

this vicious amendment.
