A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH CONFIRMING REPORT.OF.THE STREET

SUPERINTENDENT ON.THE.ABATEMENT OF WEEDS AND.
OTHER.NUISANCES AND REQUESTING.THE ADDITION,TO
4
THE TAX ROLL OF THE CITY'S ASSESSMENTS.FOR SUCH
5
ABATEMENT AND THE - COLLECTION THEREOF.BY THE
COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR

WHEREAS, vhe City Council of the City of Newport Beach,
7
pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 10.48 of Title 10 of the
8
Newport Beach Municipal Code and to the provisions of Article 2,
9
Chapter 13, Part 2, Division 3 of the California Government Code,
10
by Resolution No. 6420, declared weeds and other conditions referre
11
to therein on certain streets, sidewalks, parkways, and private
12
property in said City to be a public nuisance, and designated the
13
Street Superintendent of the City of Newport Beach as the person
14
to give notice to abate said nuisances, which notice was given by
15
him in accordance with the above - mentioned provisions of the
16
Municipal Code and Government Code; and
17
WHEREAS, pursuant to said notice a public hearing was
18
held to allow protests to the abatement of such nuisances and, one
19
protest having been made and overruled, the City Council ordered
20
the Street Superintendent to proceed with the abatement of the
21
nuisances; and
22
WHEREAS, the Street Superintendent of the City of Newport
23
Beach kept an account of the cost of abatement and, upon the
24
completion of said abatement, rendered an itemized report in
25
writing to the City Council showing the cost of removing the weeds
26
and other nuisances on or in front of each separate lot or parcel
27
of land; and
28
WHEREAS, before the said itemized report was submitted
29
to the City Council, the Street Superintendent posted a copy of it
30
for at least three days on the bulletin board at the City Hall,

with a notice that the 27th day of December, 1966, at 7:30 F. M. ha
32
been fixed as the time, and the Council Chambers in the City Hall o

the City of Newport Beach had been fixed as the place, for sub -
2
mission of said report to the City Council for confirmation and
3
for hearing objections to the acceptance of said work and the
4
assessment of the costs therefor against the parcels of land from
5
which the weed and other nuisances had been abated, and the
6
required notice was given as provided for by Section 10.48.160
7
of the Newport Beach Municipal Code; and
8
A=REAS, no objections to the acceptance of said work
9
and assessment of the costs therefor were submitted to the City
10
Council at said hearing; and
11
&7HEREAS, the City Council desires that the assessments
12
be added to the current tax assessment roll as assessments against
13
the respective parcels of land as shown on the attached report,
14
and that said assessments be collected by the County Tax Collector
15
in the same manner as other City property taxes;
16
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
17
1. The itemized report of the Street Superintendent of
18
the City of Newport Beach showing the cost of removing the weeds
19
and other nuisances on or in front of each separate lot or parcel
20
of land designated therein, which report is attached hereto as
21
Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof, be and the same is hereby
22
confirmed, and the cost of abating the nuisance in front of or
23
upon the various parcels as confirmed shall constitute a special
24
assessment against the respective parcels of land and shall be a
25
lien thereon until paid.

2. The Orange County Auditor - Controller is requested
27
to add the assessments shown on Exhibit "A" to the County property
28
tax roll as assessments against the respective parcels of land as
29
shown therein, and further that the County Tax Collector is hereby
30
requested to collect said assessments on behalf of the City of
