6i&i.- REAS, Section 12. 50.160 of the Newport Beach Municipal

Code provides that the City Council may by resolution establish mo-
7
parking areas a&, when appropriate signs or markings are in place,
8
-no person shall stop, stand, or park a vehicle in the no- parking
9
area so established; and
10
WHEREAS, Section 22506 of the Vehicle Code provides that
11
local authorities may by resolution prohibit the parking of vehicle
12
on a state highway if such resolution is first submitted to and
13
approved in writing by the Department of Public Works; and
14
WHEREAS, the southerly side of Pacific Coast Highway
15
between Dover Drive and Bayside Drive is an area where parking
16
should be prohibited im order to facilitate the flow of traffic ane
17
eliminate traffic hazards;

HCUO TH IUCK0 BE IT RESOLVED that the southerly side
19
of Pacific Coast Highway 'between Dover Drive and Bayside give is
20
hereby designated as a no-parking area.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Traffic Engineer is
22
authorized and directed to sign and mark said area indicating that
23
parking is prohibited as provided in Section 12.40.160 of the
24
Newport Beach Municipal Code.

Any provision of this resolution which regulates traffic
26
or delegates the regulation of traffic upon state highways in any
27
way for which the approval of the Department of Public Works is
28
required by state law shall cease to be operative six months after
29
receipt by the City Council of written notice of withdrawal of
30
approval of the 0eparomoent of Public corks.
