RESOLUTION NO. 6738
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING PETITION TO THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY TO HAVE PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH EXCEPTED FROM
THE LEVY OF ANY ORANGE COUNTY TAX TO PROVIDE
STRUCTURAL FIRE PROTECTION
WHEREAS, the City of Newport. Beach is a municipal, cor-
poration incorporated and now existing under and by virtue of a
charter granted under the laws of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach lies in the County
of Orange in the State of California, and maintains a fire depart-
ment with fire fighting equipment and with trained, competent
personnel under outstanding leadership, which said department .
has available to it a water system with adequate pressure, circu-
lated through large trunk mains, all of which has resulted in the
organized fire department of the City providing adequate strwctural.
fire protection to all property within the corporate limits of said
City; and
WHEREAS, no additional benefit in fire protection is
received or required by such property from structural faire protec-
tion given by the County; and
WHEREAS, Section 25643 of the Government Code of the
State of California provides for a petition supported by a resolu-
tion to have property in an area such as the City of Newport Beach
excepted from the levy of any tax for the purpose of providing
structural fire protection on the part of the County in which such
area is located;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes and directs a petition
to be presented to the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Orange
County, supported by a certified copy of this resolution, petition-
ing said County to comply with said Government Code Section 25643,
and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to

execute and attest and transmit said petition on behalf of the
City of Newport Beach.

do hereby certify that according to the records of the City of Newport Beach
filed and maintained in my office, the foregoing Resolution No. 6738 was
duly and regularly adopted, passed, and approved by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting of said City Council
held at the regular meeting place thereof, on the 25th day of March , 1968,
by the following vote, to wit:
AYES, COUNCILMEN: Rogers, Parsons, Marshall, Gruber, Cook,
Forgit, Shelton
NOES, COUNCILMEN: None
ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: None
