71 VHERMS, there has been presented to the City Council
8 of the City of Newport Beach a document entitled ''DEPARTMENT OF
9 THE ARM LEASE FOR PUBLIC PARK AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES, NEGi'PM

10 JETTIES - NEWPORT BAY, ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA PROJECT Aa A'=,
ll by which the Secretary of the Army grants to the Catty a 25-year
12 lease to use and occupy two parcels of land located at the east
13 and west jetties of Newport Bay, more fully described in said
14 lease, for public park and recreational purposes, and
151 MiEREAS, there is attached to the lease as Exhibit D
16 an Assurance of Compliance with the Department of Defense Direc-
17 Live under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to the effect
18 that no person shall, on the ground of race, color, or national
19 origin, be subjected to discrimination under any program or
20 activity for which the City receives Federal financial assistance
21 from the Department of the Army; and
22 WHZREAS, the lease has been reviewed by the City Council
23 and the City Council has found the same to be fair and equitable
24I and in the interests of the City,
25 NOW, T°H2.TAhsFOR.E, BE IT RESOLVED that said lease is
261 approved and the Fayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
271 directed to execute the same, and the Assurance of Compliance

28 attached thereto as Exhibit YD, on behalf of the City of Newport
29 Beach,
