RESOLUTION NO. 6767
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH THE ORANGE COUNTY
HARBOR DISTRICT FOR THE DREDGING OF THE WEST
NEWPORT CHANNELS
WHEREAS, the channels known as The Rialto, The Rivo Alto,
and the unnamed channel north of Newport Island, all in the City
of Newport Beach, have become filled with silt to the extent that
the navigability of the channels has been impaired; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that maintenance of
said channels is a local rather than a federal responsibility,
and the governing bodies of the City of Newport Beach and the
Orange County Harbor District have agreed to join together in a
maintenance dredging project for the purpose of deepening the
channels; and
WHEREAS, there has been presented to the City Council a
Reimbursement Agreement providing for such maintenance dredging
project under which the City agrees to act as contracting agent
for the project and the District agrees to reimburse the City for
50% of the total cost of doing the work, with the total amount of
reimbursement not to exceed $3,000; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the terms and
conditions of said agreement and found them to be reasonable and
equitable;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said agreement is
approved and the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and
directed to execute the same on behalf of the City of Newport
Beach.

held at the regular meeting place thereof, on the 13th day of May 1968,
