RESOLUTION N0. 6854
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH EXPRESSING ITS POSITION CONCERNING THE REPORT
ENTITLED "PHASE I, MASTER PLAN OF AIR TRANSPORTATION
FOR ORANGE COUNTY" AND URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
TO ACT FAVORABLY ON CERTAIN RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED
4P THEREIN
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Orange County recently
received a report dated July, 1968, prepared by William L. Pereira &
Associates, entitled "Phase I, Master Plan of Air Transportation for
Orange County," hereinafter called the "Pereira Report "; and
WHEREAS, the decisions made by the Orange County Board of
Supervisors on the basis of the Pereira Report will vitally affect the
future of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has reviewed said report and wishes
to express its position thereon;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach that the Council endorses and supports the following
four -point program recommended in the Pereira Report:
"Point One: Support the future development of a major new
international airport to serve the Los Angeles - Orange County -San
Diego metropolitan areas, for example at Camp Pendleton.
Point Two: Build a new regional airport in an optimum location
in Orange County, completion to be no later than five years from now.
Point Three: Regulate activity at the present Orange County
Airport during the interim period until a new regional airport can
be put into operation.
Point Four: Adopt a long -range plan for the development of
general airports, airparks and metroports."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the opinion of the City Council
