A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6654, AS
51
AMENDED BY RESOLUTION N0. 6778, WHICH ESTABLISHED
OFF- STREET PARKING METER ZONES AND REGULATIONS

FOR THE OPERATION OF PARKING METERS

WHEREAS, Chapter 12:44 of Title 12 of the Newport Beach
8
Municipal Code establishes on- street parking meter zones and
9
sets the fees for parking in such zones, provides that the City
10
Council may by resolution establish off- street parking meter
11
zones and set the fees for parking in such zones, and further
12
provides that the City Council shall by resolution designate the
13
denomination of coins to be deposited in parking meters, the
14
parking time allowed following such deposit, and the hours of
15
the day, the days of the week, and the weeks of the year during
16
which deposits are required and the meters will be in operation;
17
and
18
WHEREAS, off - street parking meter zones and regulations
19
for the operation of parking meters were established by Resolu-
20
tion No. 6654, Section 5 of which was amended by Resolution
21
No. 6778; and
22
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish one
23
additional off - street parking meter zone in the City and set the
24
fees and establish regulations for parking in such zone, which
25
necessitates the further amendment of Resolution No. 5654
26
relating thereto;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 6654,
28
as amended by Resolution No. 6778, is further amended as follows:

1. Section 2 is amended to read:

1°Section 2. The following off-street parking meter

zones are hereby established:

Zone 10 The City -oomed and leased land easterly

of and adjacent to Central Avenue
between Via Oporto and Newport Bay.

Zone 11
The City -owned land known as McFadden

Parking Lot lying within McFadden Place

between Balboa Boulevard and Ocean Front.

Zone 12
The City-owned land known as the Ocean

Front Parking Lot lying oceanward of
Ocean Front between McFadden Place and

24th Street.

Zone 13
The City -owned land along 19th Street
Beach known as Bay Avenue between 18th

Street and 19th Street.

Zone 15
The parking spaces adjacent to the center-
line dividing strip on Balboa Boulevard
10
between Twenty -first Street and Fifteenth
Street.

Zone 16
The improved parking area in Las Arenas

Park, particularly described as Lots 1,
2 and 3, Block 117, Section B. Newport

Beach Tract

Zone 17
The City -owned land westerly of and
adjacent to the westerly roadway of

Newport Boulevard between the alley
southerly of 30th Street and extending

to 28th Street.

Zone 18
The City -owned parking lot at the south-
easterly corner of E. Bay Avenue and

Washington Street."

2. The first
paragraph of Section 3 is amended to read:

"Section
3. Except when the operation of said
21
meters is suspended as
hereinafter provided, parking meters in
22
Zones 1, 2, 4, 6, 11,
12, 13, 15, 16, 17, and 18 shall be in
23
operation and the deposit
of coins required from 6 :00 A.M. to
24
6:00 P.M. on 6 -hour and 12 -hour meters and from 8:00 A.M. to
25
6:00 P.M. on all other
meters, seven days per week and each week
26
of the year."

3. Section
4 is amended to add the following sentence
28
preceding the last two
paragraphs:

"in Zone
18, 1 -hour and 6 -hour meters shall be used.'

4. Section
5 is amended to read:

5. The fees for parking at parking meters
in the zones
established by this resolution when the

parking meters
are in operation are hereby established

at ten cents per hour in zone 10; twenty -five cents
per hour in zones 11, 12, 13, 15, and 16; ten cents
per hour for 2 -hour meters and twenty -five cents for
any time up to twelve hours for 12 -hour meters in
zone 17; and ten cents per hour for one -hour meters
and twenty -five cents per hour for 6 -hour meters in
zone 18."
