RESOLUTION NO. 0
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH CONTINUING THE EXISTENCE OF THE
NEWPORT BEACH CITY ARTS COMMITTEE, PRESCRIBING
ITS POWERS AND DUTIES, AND SPECIFYING THE NUMBER
AND MANNER OF APPOINTMENT OF ITS MEMBERS
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 5526 adopted by the City
Council on December 11, 1961, the present Newport Beach City
Arts Committee was originally established; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of said Resolution No. 5526
relating to the Beach City Arts Committee were subsequently
modified by Resolution No. 6083 and by Resolution No. 6226; and
WHEREAS, it is the purpose of this resolution to
place the terms of the members of the committee on a fiscal
year basis, to increase the length of the terms of committee
members from 3 to 4 years and to increase the number of members
of the committee from 5 to 7; and
WHEREAS, it is also the purpose of this resolution
to consolidate herein all valid provisions relating to the
Newport Beach City Arts Committee into one resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach as follows:
1. The Newport Beach City Arts Committee is hereby
continued in existence.
2. The powers and duties of the Newport Beach City
Arts Committee shall be
(a) To select displays of the arts for
public buildings;
(b) To publicize such displays;
(c) To promote cultural activities within
the City of Newport Beach;
(d) To represent the City in connection
with cultural and artistic endeavors.
The committee shall coordinate the foregoing activities with
the City Manager.

3. The Newport Beach City Arts Committee shall consist
of seven members appointed by the City Council for terms of four
years on a fiscal year basis.
4. The committee shall annually elect one of its
members as Chairman.
