3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
4 ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY
FINANCING PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 1969 -70 THE
5 CONSTRUCTION OF JAMBOREE ROAD BETWEEN PALISADES
61 ROAD AND MACARTHUR BOULEVARD
7 WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to improve
8 Jamboree Road between Palisades Road andMc.Arthur Boulevard; and
9 WHEREAS, Jamboree Road is an important artery in the
10 County of Orange and of general County interest; and
11 WHEREAS, Article 2, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets
i2 and Highways Code authorizes a county, if it so desires, to expend
13 funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax
14 Fund for aid to any city in the improvement, construction or
15 repair of a street within a city; and
16 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by
17 appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special
18 Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1969 -70 a sum of money
19 for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of
20 the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway
211 Financing Program;
221 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
23 the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors
24 of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County funds
25 the amount of $80,000, said amount to be matched by funds from
26 said City, to be used to aid said City in the construction of
27 Jamboree Road from Palisades Road to MacArthur Boulevard, said
28 construction to be in accordance with the attached project
29 statement;
30 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
31 the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work
32 on 32nd Street, in the manner provided, is in the general County

interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this resolution, the
City of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the
Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its
share of the cost of construction will be available for the fiscal
year 1969 -70.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project consists of the extension of Jamboree Road northerly of
Palisades Road.to MacArthur Boulevard. This project would provide the
final link in this arterial highway between the Pacific Coast Highway
• and the San Diego Freeway.
Included in the project will be the construction of 16 feet curbed
median, two 14 feet and two 12 feet lanes.with eight foot shoulder, right
turn lanes to and from MacArthur Boulevard, and the extension of existing
culverts. A traffic signal will be constructed at MacArthur Boulevard. The
existing three -way traffic signal at Palisades Road will be modified to
handle through traffic. In accordance with conditions set by the State
Division of Highways, left turn channelization on MacArthur Boulevard ,
and "signal ahead" flashers will be provided as a part of this project.
See Exhibit A and C for general plan and typical sections.
Funding: The City portion will be provided from Gas Tax Funds. The
funds listed in "others" column are for one -half of the traffic signal at
MacArthur Boulevard and will be provided by the County Road Department.
