A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTION OF A GROUND LEASE BETWEEN THE
CITY AND THE IRVINE COMPANY RELATING TO THE
CIVIC CENTER PROPERTY IN THE NEWPORT CENTER
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is in the process of
purchasing a parcel of real property in the Newport Center for use
as a Civic Center; and
WHEREAS, it has been proposed that the City enter into a
ground lease with The Irvine Company which would allow The Irvine
Company to lease the property on a month to month basis pending
construction of the Civic Center buildings; and
WHEREAS, a ground lease has been presented to the City
Council which provides that The Irvine Company as lessee shall pay
City a monthly rental of $6,100.00 for the use and occupancy of the
leased premises;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Newport Beach that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute the above described ground lease on behalf of
the City of Newport Beach.
