Mayor and Council Members:
We have reviewed the minutes and video of the Apr 23rd Study Session, in particular,
The topic of the City Hall Site Reuse. The record of Public Testimony is substantially incomplete,
and therefore inaccurate.
The Council chambers were completed filled with community members interested in this topic.
Lido,Balboa Penninsula, West Newport and Newport Heights residents testified in favor of the
Upscale Hotel Use for the site and it prospective long term economic and aesthetic benefit to the City.
and the Hotel as a necessary destination Anchor use to revitalize the Lido Village area.
Approximately 14 testimonies were completely omitted from the City record —all of which were in favor of an upscale
boutique hotel
and the importance of achieving successful revitalization to both the Lido /Penninsula community,and the City at large.
Several residents also expressed concern for the lack of representation on the Council on their behalf due to various
conflicts of interest,
And reiterated the need that their voices be heard.
