A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE UNIFORM
RATES SCHEDULE FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE
. AUTHORIZED TO DO BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY
WHEREAS, Section 5.14.150 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that the City Council may, on its
own motion, hold a hearing at any time for the purpose of
determining whether previously approved ambulance rate
schedules should be changed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
after giving notice thereof in accordance with the require-
ments of said Section 5.14.150 of the Newport Beach Municipal
Code and has considered the testimony of all interested parties
and all relevant evidence presented at said public hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the following uniform ambulance
rates schedule is hereby adopted:
1. BASE RATE
Response to call $30.00
2. MILEAGE RATE
Each mile or fraction thereof $ 1.00
3. EMERGENCY RATE
To be imposed when necessity $ 5.00
dictates a Code 3 run from
the injury scene to the
medical facility
4. STANDBY TIME
Waiting time or standby time $ 5.00
at the request of person
hiring the ambulance or an
elapsed time necessitated by
conditions beyond the control
of the ambulance service at
loading or discharge points.
For each 15- minute period or
major fraction thereof beyond
an initial 10-minute period

5. SPECIAL CHARGES
OXYGEN: Per cylinder of oxygen $ 5.00
or part thereof
NIGHT SERVICE: Service between $ 5.00
0 p.m. and 7 a.m.
SPECIAL HANDLING: Where $ 5.00
patients are violent
and must be restrained
or where they are
suffering from a
contagious disease and
the equipment must be
decontaminated
6. ADDITIONAL PATIENTS
Charges for additional patients in the ambulance
shall be at fifty percent of the "Basic and
Mileage Rate." Special charges to be made as
required. In -all cases where more than one
person is being transported from same point of
origin to same point of destination the
charges shall be divided equally among the
patients except for those special charges
incurred by an individual patient.
7. TOTAL CHARGE
Shall be the sum of the appropriate "Base Rate"
plus the "Mileage Rate" applied to the distance
actually traveled with - patient or patients, plus
the 'rime Rate" applied to requested or necessary
waiting or standby time, plus any "Special Charges"
which apply.
