HomeMy WebLinkAbout7109 - Special Municipal Election - 1-13-70RESOLUTION NO. 7109 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS AND ESTABLISHING THEIR COMPENSATION, DESIGNATING POLLING PLACES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE POLLS FOR THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON JANUARY 13, 1970 WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 7100 called a special municipal election to be held on January 13, 1970, as provided in the Charter of the City of Newport Beach; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City Council appoint election officers, establish their compensation, and designate polling places to be used in said election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER, as follows: SECTION 1. That for the purpose of holding said special municipal election, there shall be and are hereby established twenty -five (25) voting precincts consisting of nineteen (19) consolidations and six (6) regular election precincts in the City of Newport Beach established for the holding of state and county elections, as said regular election precincts exist on the date of adoption of this resolution; that the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated; that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election for their • respective voting precincts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. -1- Voting Precinct #1, comprising regular election precincts 102 and 98. That the compensation of the persons hereinabove named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty -One Dollars for each Inspector and Eighteen Dollars for each Judge and Clerk, for said election. The rental for each of such polling places where a charge is made shall be the sum of Fifteen Dollars for said election. SECTION 3. That the polls for said election shall be open at 7:00 a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until 7 :00 p.m. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 4. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City.
