A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO.INCLUDE GWITHIN.THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY
FINANCING PROGRAM AN ADDITIONAL.APPROPRIATION
FOR ,THE DEVELOPMENT OF.32ND STREET, NEWPORT
BEACH.
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to improve
32nd Street from Newport Boulevard to Balboa Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, 32nd Street is an important artery in the
County of Orange and of general County interest; and
WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2
of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so
desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California
Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement,
construction or repair of a street within a City; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by
appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special
Road Improvement Fund for the fiscal year 1970 -1971 a sum of
money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated
cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial
Highway Financing Program.
NOVI, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County funds
the amount of $160,000.00, said amount to be matched by funds
from said City and to be used to aid said City in the acquisition
of rights of way and for the improvement of 32nd Street from
Newport Boulevard to Balboa Boulevard; said improvements and
acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached
project statement; ,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said
acquisition of rights of way on 32nd Street, in the manner provided,
is in the general County interest.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City
of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial
Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the
cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for the
fiscal year 1970 -1971.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of December, 1969.
