A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH URGING THE TOURNAMENT OF
ROSES COMMITTEE TO ALLOW,THE OUTSTANDING BAND
FROM NEWPORT HARBOR ,HIGH SCHOOL TO BE.A
PARTICIPANT.IN THE 1971 TOURNAMENT OF ROSES
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has made
application to participate in the 1971 Tournament of Roses; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band is composed
of a group .of outstanding young marching musicians; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has given
freely of its time and talent for civic and other events through-
out Southern California; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Band has
wrought great honor not only upon themselves and their school but
also upon the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, it is the announced policy of the City of
Newport Beach to give all possible support to constructive youth
activities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach urges the Tournament of Roses Committee
to allow the Outstanding Band from Newport Harbor High School to
be a participant in the 1971 Tournament of Roses.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of June, 1970. 19
