HomeMy WebLinkAbout7227 - Municipal Employee Compensation PlanRESOLUTION N0. 7 2 2 7 • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING.A MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION. PLAN FOR 1970 -1971 WHEREAS, Section 2:28.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that, upon the,recommendation of the City Manager, the City Council shall establish by resolution the classification of positions in city employment and a salary range or rate for each class or position; and WHEREAS, Section 2.28.030 of the Code provides that the City Manager shall review the provisions of the resolution at least annually and recommend changes deemed necessary to remove inequities or to meet the operational needs of the City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7018 a municipal employee compensation plan for 1969 -1970 was adopted; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended the adoption of the hereinafter described municipal employee compensation plan for 1970 -1971; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following docu- ments are hereby adopted as the municipal employee compensation plan for 1970 -1971 for the City of Newport Beach: 1. Alphabetical List of Permanent.Classes and Assign- ment to Salary Ranges, consisting of four pages, and an" Alpha- betical List of Temporary and Seasonal Classes and Assignment to Salary Ranges, consisting of one page which, are attached hereto as Exhibit "A "; 2. Salary Schedule., consisting of one page, which is attached hereto as Exhibit "B "; and !. 3. Special Provisions Regarding Compensation, consist- ing of four pages which are attached hereto as Exhibit "C ". ADOPTED this 13th day of July, 1970. Exhibit "B" U] CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH SPECIAL PROVISIONS REGARDING COMPENSATION EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1970 • COMPENSATION FOR SPECIAL ON- THE -JOB ASSIGNMENTS Automotive Classes Automotive Shop employees assigned to regular full work shifts at night receive $12 bi- weekly night differential pay.' Building Maintenance Classes Building Maintenance employees.assigned to regular full work shifts at night receive $12 bi- weekly night differential pay. Fire Classes Fire personnel assigned to a.40 -hour work week.in.fire prevention for more than 30 consecutive days receive compensation at the corresponding step in the next higher full salary range. The Fire Battalion Chief assigned to the'training function for.more than 30 consecutive days receives compensation at the corresponding step in the next higher full salary range. Lifeguard Classes Senior Lifeguards on full -time permanent basis assigned_as. summer supervisors receive compensation at the corresponding salary range step in the next higher full salary range. Police Classes Police Officers, Policewomen, Police Sergeants, and..P.olice Lieutenants assigned to detective duty for more than 30 consecutive days receive compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher full salary range. Police Officers.assigned to two- wheel.motorcycles_receive. compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher full salary range. Police Officers assigned as.Felony Unit Investigators for more than 30 consecutive days receive compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher one -half salary range. Police Officers assigned as Supervisors in the Police.Records.- Division for more than 30 consecutive days receive compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher full salary.range. Community Reiations:.O£ficar. for more than 30 consecutive..days:receives compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher one -half salary range. Police Officers.assigned as helicopter pilots for more than 30 consecutive days receives compensation at the corresponding-salary step'in the next higher two full salary ranges. . Police clerical employees assigned to regular full work shifts at night receive $12 bi- weekly night differentail pay. • COMPENSATION FOR OFF -DUTY ASSIGNMENTS Police Classes Police employees assigned to work as ammunition reloaders' during off -duty hours receives $2.70 hourly compensation. All Classes City employees assigned as. representatives. of the City.to_work' for private employers receives special overtime compensation.$t.the salary range and step to which they are regularly.assigned. The - private employers will be billed by the City for the amount of the compensation plus overhead as follows: 1. Miscellaneous employees during working hours 20% 2. Public safety (fire and police) during normal 21.5% working hours 3. All employees during non- working hours 12% COMPENSATION FOR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS Engineering Classes Engineers registered by the State of California .assigned- _to.classes not requiring State registration receives compensation at -the'corresponding salary step in the next higher'full salary range. Police Classes Police employees shall be compensated as follows for shooting proficiency: Additional Monthly Pay Marksman $ 6.00 Sharpshooter $ 8.00 Expert $12.00 CITY PROVIDED HOUSING AND UTILITIES Marinapark Classes The Marinapark Manager and Marinapark-Clerk are - required ... to reside at their place of work and have the benefit of City - provided housing and utilities in addition to salary. _g_ 0 Alk SPECIAL PROVISIONS REGARDING COMPENSATION CONTINUED SALARY SCHEDULE CONVERSION TABLE FOR FIRE PERSONNEL Reimbursement for less than a full pay period for fire.personnel..on normal 12 -hour shift duty will be based on the following conversion table (61 hours weekly, 122 hours bi- weekly).
