A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH URGING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
TO CONDUCT FURTHER STUDIES PRIOR TO ADOPTING
• INTERIM RENTAL CHARGES FOR THE PRIVATE USE OF
TIDELANDS CLAIMED BY THE COUNTY OF ORANGE
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has established
January 1, 1971, as the effective date for interim rental for
the private use of public tidelands claimed by the County of
Orange, and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has already
established fees for the private use of public tidelands held
in trust by the City, which fees are now being reconsidered by
the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach, in order to
clarify its position in this regard, has asked for an opinion
from the State Attorney General;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach urges the Board of Supervisors to delay the
adoption of interim rental fees until an opinion can be obtained
from the Attorney General, and in any event not to establish
such fees before July 1, 1971.
ADOPTED this 14th day of December, 1970.
