A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING REMOVAL OF STOP
CONTROLS ON SANTA ROSA DRIVE AND ON PRIVATE
DRIVEWAY EXTENDING WESTERLY OF SANTA ROSA DRIVE
AT NEWPORT CENTER DRIVE
• WHEREAS, Section 12.36.010 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that whenever an ordinance or resolution
designates and describes an intersection at which vehicles are
required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the City
Traffic Engineer shall erect stop signs at those entrances of
such intersection where a stop is required, and every driver of
a vehicle shall stop at such intersection; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 6689 the City Traffic
Engineer was formerly authorized and directed to erect stop
signs on Santa Rosa Drive and on the private driveway extending
westerly of Santa Rosa Drive at Newport Center Drive; and
WHEREAS, investigation of traffic conditions has since
shown that in order to facilitate the movement of traffic and
prevent vehicular congestion of the streets, the stop controls
above described should be removed, and the City Council has
determined that it is in the public interest to do so;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that the City Traffic Engineer is
hereby authorized and directed to remove the stop controls on
Santa Rosa Drive and on the private driveway extending westerly
of Santa Rosa Drive at Newport Center Drive.
ADOPTED this 11th day of January, 1971.
