A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT FOR A CIVIC
CENTER BOND MEASURE
WHEREAS, an election is to be held in the City of Newport
Beach on October 5, 1971, at which there will be submitted to the
qualified electors of said city the following city measure:
"Shall the City of Newport Beach incur a bonded
indebtedness in the principal sum of $6,935,000
for the acquisition and construction by said city
of the following municipal improvement, to wit: a
public facility to accommodate certain governmental
and administrative facilities and certain police
and public safety facilities, including landscaping,
furniture, equipment, and related facilities and all
other property and services necessary therefor ?"
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as
follows:
SECTION 1. That this City Council, being the legislative
body of said city, hereby designates Mayor E. F. Hirth as a bona
fide proponent of the Civic Center bond measure; and hereby authorizes
said Mayor Hirth to file a written argument for the Civic Center bond
measure set forth in the recitals hereof in accordance with Article 4,
Chapter 3, Division 4 of the Elections Code of the State of
California and to change said argument until and including the date
fixed by the City Clerk after which no arguments for or against
said Civic Center bond measure may be submitted to said Clerk.
ADOPTED this 9th day of August , 1971.
