A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
WORK IN ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 54 PURSUANT
TO THE IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 1911
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has opened, examined and
declared all sealed proposals or bids at a public meeting held
on March 20, 1972, and has reported the results of the bidding to
the City Council; and
WHEREAS, said work consists of the construction of
alley improvements consisting of paving alleys and alley approaches,
the adjustment of grades in streets and alleys and on private
property, in those areas of the City of Newport Beach known as
Newport Heights and Balboa, all as more particularly described
in Resolution of Intention No. 7576 adopted by the City Council
on December 13, 1971, and in accordance with the plans, drawings
and specifications referred to in said resolution and as modified
in the resolution ordering said work to be done, adopted by the
City Council on January 24, 1972, and designated Resolution No. 7603;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AND ORDER as follows:
1. The City Council hereby awards the contract for said
work to the lowest, regular and responsible bidder, to wit:
GRIFFITH COMPANY, at the price set forth in its bid which is on
file in the office of the City Clerk; and the Superintendent of
Streets is:' 'authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the
City;
0 2. The Superintendent of Streets is authorized to
order changes in the work after construction has begun, without
the necessity of a public hearing, said order shall be in writing
and the amount of any change ordered shall not exceed one (1) per .__-

of the amount of the original contract;
3. Contributions by the City to said Assessment District
in the total estimated amount of $73,300.00 are hereby approved.
4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a Notice
of Award of Contract to be published in the Newport Harbor Ensign
in the manner and form required by law.
ADOPTED this 27th day of March, 1972.
