A.RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING A CITIZENS
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY CONTROL ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
. WHEREAS, by Resolution No, 7691, a Council Committee on
Environmental Quality Control was established for the purpose of
considering and evaluating environmental legislative measures and
to keep abreast of the latest techniques for environmental quality
management to bring to the attention of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
has determined that, in order to effectively pursue the study and
implementation of environmental quality control, it would be
desirable to establish a citizens committee on environmental quality
control as well;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that there is hereby established a Citizens
Environmental Quality Control Advisory Committee, to be comprised
of 15 members who will be recommended by the City Council Appoint-
ments Committee, and appointed by the City Council to serve terms of
one year. Duties and functions of the Citizens Committee shall be
as follows-
1. Identify areas of actual or potential environmental
problems;
2. Gather and study facts and other information relative
to these problems, and suggest various alternative solutions;
3. Identify and set forth the economic, social and en-
vironmental cost - benefits involved in regulating environmental quality;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council shall hold an
annual review of the Citizens Environmental Quality Control Advisory
• Committee for the purpose of determining the necessity for continuing
the existence of the same.
ADOPTED this 22nd day of May 1972.
