A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH CO ?S?E[ \'DING THE NB1'PORT I LkRBOR COMA fINITY
YOUTH CENTER BOARDS OF DIRECTORS, PAST AMD PRESENT,
FOR DEDICATED COANNNITY SERVICE
1VM-1L12EAS, in 1954 a Newport Harbor Community Youth Center
Board of Directors was formed for the purpose of developing a recreational
facility for the youth of the community; and
iVTEREAS, the Youth Center Board has developed, through
donations and volunteer labor, a recreation center at Sth and Iris,
Corona del Mar, known as Grant Howald Park, and containing a community
building, twc tennis courts, a lighted ball diamond, a basketball court,
and other related facilities, all at no cost to the City; and
WM-IEREAS, for the past 18 years the Youth Center Boards have
played an active role with the City in the maintenance and scheduling
of the park facilities; and
itT EREAS, the present Board of Directors now finds it
desirable to dissolve their organization and have conveyed to the City
all of the Community Youth Center facilities which have been constructed
on City and school property; and
WHEREAS, the Boards of Directors, past and present, have
consistently and diligently made improvements to the Community Youth Center
in a dedicated and unselfish manner, enhancing the community and benefitting
its youth through the development of the recreation center and its varied
programs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach hereby commends all of the individuals who have
served on the Boards of Directors of the Newport Harbor Community Youth
Center, past and present, for their unselfish devotion to the recreational
needs of this community, and for their many fine accomplishments while
serving the community and its youth.
