A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT OF
A.B. 2213 IN CONNECTION WITH STATEWIDE SYSTEM
FOR REGISTERING AND LICENSING BICYCLES
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2213, authored by Assemblyman
Robert E. Badham, provides for a statewide system for the
registering and licensing of bicycles, to begin operation
July 1, 1975; and
WHEREAS, if approved, Assembly Bill 2213 would replace
Senate Bill 147, which was a first approach to a statewide
attempt to reduce or eliminate bicycle theft, and which was
approved by the Governor on August 15, 1972; and
WHEREAS, unlike S.B. 147, A. B. 2213 has the support
of state law enforcement agencies, as well as the support of many
cities, and will replace S.B. 147, if approved;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of.the City of Newport Beach hereby expresses its support of.
A.B. 2213, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a
copy of this resolution to the Honorable Robert E. Badham, State
Assemblyman, the Honorable Denn.ie. -- aypanter, State Senator, and
to the League of California Cities, Sacramento.
