A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING THE INTERIM OPEN
SPACE COMPONENT OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
ELEMENT OF THE NEWPORT BEACH GENERAL PLAN
WHEREAS, Section 65563 of the California Government Code
• provides that every City and County shall prepare, adopt and submit
to the Secretary of the Resources Agency an Interim Open Space Plan
which shall be in effect until June 30, 1973, at which time a
comprehensive local open space plan shall be prepared and submitted;
and
WHEREAS, a phase of the City's General Plan program has
involved the preparation of an Interim Open Space Element, and
WHEREAS, said Interim Open Space Element sets forth
objectives and supporting policies to guide the preparation and
implementation of the natural environment element of the General
Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Newport
Beach, pursuant to Section 707 of the Newport Beach City Charter,
has held a public hearing to consider the adoption of the Interim Open
Space Element as a part of the City's General Plan, and has adopted
and has recommended that the City Council adopt said Element; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a public hearing
to consider the adoption of the Interim Open Space Element as a
part of the City's General Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
does hereby adopt as a part of the General Plan, the Interim Open
Space Element described above, a copy of which is on file in the
Office of the City Clerk;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed and authorized to transmit a certified copy of this resolu-
tion along with the Interim Open Space Element of the General Plan
to the Secretary of the Resources Agency of the State of California.
ADOPTED this 10th day of October, 1972.
