HomeMy WebLinkAbout7938 - City Parking Lot Fees• RESOLUTION NO. 7938 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY 'COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING PARKING FEES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE USE OF CITY PARKING LOTS AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NOS. 7652, 7722 AND 7798 WHEREAS, the City maintains and operates the following parking lots: 1. The lot at the Corona del Mar State and City Beach Park; 2. The lot on the Balboa Peninsula, southerly of Ocean Front at Palm and Washington Streets, commonly referred to as the Balboa Parking Lot; and 3. The lot on 26th Street between Newport and Balboa Boulevards, commonly referred to as the 26th Street Parking Lot; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish regula- tions and parking fees for the use of said parking lots; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. The City Manager shall determine the days on which parking control shall be maintained and parking fees shall be charged for the use of all City parking lots on the basis of his evaluation of whether there is sufficient demand for the use of said lots to justify providing a parking attendant or activating an automatic parking gate. 2. For each day that parking control is maintained the following fees shall be charged for the use of said lots: a. Corona del Mar State and City Beach Park. (1) $1.00 per day on weekdays for all vehicles including busses (2) $1.50 per day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays for all vehicles inclu- ding busses -1- b. Balboa Parking Lot: (1) $1.00 per day on weekdays for all vehicles including busses (2) $1.50 per day on Saturdays, Sundays • and holidays for all vehicles inclu- ding busses c. 26th Street Parking Lot: (1) During the period October 15 to the last day in February of each year: $0.50 per day on weekdays, and $1.00 per day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (2) During the period March 1 to October 14 of each year: $1.00 per day. d. The City Manager is authorized to vary the parking fees charged at the Corona del Mar State and ^_City Beach and the Balboa Parking Lots during the period from the last Sunday in September and May 15th of any year from a minimum fee of $1.00 for any vehicle to a maximum fee of $1.50 for any vehicle. 3. The City Manager is authorized to waive any of the aforesaid fees established herein when a special event is being held of a charitable or civic nature and it is in the best interests of the City and the general public that fees not be charged for the use of any such parking lot in connection with said special event. 4. Resolutions Nos. 7652, 7722 and 7798 are hereby rescinded.
