A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH COMMENDING PHILIP
F. BETTENCOURT, ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER,
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND
DEDICATED SERVICE WITH THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH
• WHEREAS, Mr. Philip F. Bettencourt has worked in
•
the capacity of Administrative Assistant to the City Manager
for over two and one -half years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bettencourt was Acting City Manager
from April 5, 1971 to August 2, 1971; and
WHEREAS, as Acting City Manager he did a most out-
standing job administering the affairs of the City, including
the preparation of the Fiscal Year 1971/1972 budget; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bettencourt has been Assistant City
Manager for over two years and three months; and
WHEREAS, during this period of time he has demon-
strated outstanding leadership ability, aggressiveness, in-
genuity and competence; and
WHEREAS, during this time he has been responsible
for many key aspects of the City's functions, including airport
matters, insurance, property management, civic center develop-
ment, traffic affairs and other equally important facets of
the City's operations; and
WHEREAS, he has at all times evidenced complete
loyalty and dedication to his position and the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby commend Mr. Bettencourt
for his professional stature, dedication and competence, and
does hereby convey the gratitude of the community and the City

two months with the City of Newport Beach.
