A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH COMMENDING THE
NEWPORT BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT BASKETBALL
TEAM FOR WINNING THE SILVER MEDAL AT THE
1973 CALIFORNIA STATE FIREMAN'S ASSOCIA-
TION OLYMPIC GAMES
• WHEREAS, twelve basketball teams representing Fire
Departments throughout the State of California competed in
the State Fireman's Association Olympic Games held in Los
Angeles, California during the period June 20 to June 23; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach was represented
by 12 firemen; and
WHEREAS, the Fireman's Association Olympic Games is
a very worthwhile and valuable activity which encourages
healthy competition and provides a means of maintaining physi-
cal fitness; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Beach team placed second in
the competition, winning the Silver Medal and thereby bring-
ing credit to the Newport Beach Fire Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby commends the Newport Beach
Fire Department Basketball team for winning the 1973 California
State Fireman's Association Olympic Games.
ADOPTED this 9th day of July , 1973.
