A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH HONORING THE MEMORY
OF WILLIAM R. MASON
• WHEREAS, William R. Mason was associated with The
Irvine Company commencing in 1959 and was named President of
that company in 1966; and
WHEREAS, as President of The Irvine Company he pre-
sided over the formulation of plans to transform the land of
said company from primarily agricultural uses to various
residential, industrial and commercial uses; and
WHEREAS, in his position with The Irvine Company
William R. Mason demonstrated his high ethical standards,
vision and dedication for the betterment of the citizens of
Orange County; and
WHEREAS, William R. Mason was especially dedicated
to serving youth through his activities with the Boy Scouts,
the Orange County Junior Achievement Program, and various YMCA
and other youth- oriented programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby honor the memory of
William R. Mason, and expresses appreciation for his dynamic
leadership, devotion to corporate responsibility, and many
lasting contributions to this community.
