HomeMy WebLinkAbout8090 - Public Works Prevailing WagesRESOLUTION NO. 8090 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ASCERTAINING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES TO BE PAID IN CONNECTION WITH PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS WHEREAS, Section 1773, et seq., of the Labor Code of the State of California requires the body awarding contracts for public works projects to ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality where the work is to be performed for each craft, classification, or type of workman needed to execute the contract; and WHEREAS, it is convenient to declare said general prevailing rate by resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach: SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the City Council hereby does ascer- tain, determine, and declare the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime work, including the employer payments for health and welfare, pension, vacation, and similar purposes, for each craft, classification, or type of work needed in the execution of the contracts for public work in the locality of the City of Newport Beach, to be as set forth in the attached 1973 "Wage Scales for the Six Basic Trades" and the updated 1972 "Sub- Trades Hourly Wage Rates of Building and Construction Trades Unions ", furnished by the Orange County Building and Construction Trades Council, which attached schedules hereby are incorporated in and made a part of this resolution to replace the rates heretofore adopted and established by Resolution No. 7718 dated June 12, 1972. • SECTION 2. The City Clerk is authorized and directed to certify to the adoption of this resolution and file a certi- fied copy thereof with the Director of Industrial Relations of • • the State of California, pursuant to Section 1773.3 of the Labor Code. The City Clerk is further directed to cause a copy of this resolution and the attached schedules to be published once in the official newspaper of the City.
