RESOLUTION NO. 8145
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO
THE CITY OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
• CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AND
KNOWN AS ANNEXATION NO. 78, IRVINE AVENUE -
MESA DRIVE
WHEREAS, on November 28, 1973, the Local Agency
Formation Commission of Orange County approved the proposed
annexation to the City of Newport Beach of that certain
territory as hereinafter described, designated as Annexation
No. 78, Irvine Avenue -Mesa Drive, pursuant to the application
filed by The Irvine Company, the landowner of the territory
to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, on November 28, 1973, the Local Agency
Formation Commission of Orange County approved the request
of the City of Newport Beach requesting that the City Council
be authorized to annex said territory without notice and
hearing pursuant to Section 54797.1 of the Government Code,
after proof having been submitted to said Commission that all
of the owners of the land within the territory proposed to
be annexed had given their written consent to such annexa-
tion; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the necessary proceedings
in accordance with the requirements of the Annexation of
Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939 have been completed;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach HEREBY RESOLVES as follows:
Section 1: The annexation to the City of Newport
Beach, California, of that certain uninhabited territory
• contiguous to said City, known as Annexation No. 78, Irvine
Avenue -Mesa Drive, is hereby approved; said property is more

described as follows:
a,iat portion of Block 5, Irvine's Subdivision, in
the County of Orange, State of California, as per map
filed in Book 1, page 88, Miscellaneous Record Maps,
records of said County, described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the Southwesterly
• line of Mesa Drive, 60.00 feet wide as shown on a map
of Tract No. 706, as per map filed in Book 21, page 25,
Miscellaneous Maps, records of said County, with the
Southeasterly line of Irvine Avenue, formerly Tustin
Avenue, 60.00 feet wide, as described in a deed recorded
in Book 1597, page 123, Official Records of said County,
said intersection being an angle point in the boundary
of the City of Newport Beach as established by Ordinance
No. 748 of said City; thence leaving said boundary
North 50° 11' 45" West 30.00 feet along the South-
westerly line of said Mesa Drive as shown on said map
of Tract No. 706 to the Southwesterly prolongation of
the Southeasterly line of Lot 20, Tract No. 456, as per
map filed in Book 17, page 9, said Miscellaneous Maps;
thence along said prolongation and the boundary of said
Tract No. 456 the following described courses: North
39° 48' 15" East 236.65 feet; North 720 22' 45" East
687.58 feet; North 43° 29' 45" East 130.50 feet; North
460 40' 45" East 406.60 feet to the Southwesterly line
of the land described in Parcel 5 in a deed recorded in
Book 4332, page 308, said Official Records; thence
South 500 11' 45" East 564.34 feet along said South-
westerly line to the Northwesterly line of said Tract
No. 706; thence South 390 48' 15" West 1274.43 feet
along said Northwesterly line and the Southwesterly
prolongation thereof to the Southwesterly line of said
Mesa Drive and the boundary of said City of Newport
Beach as established by said Ordinance No. 748; thence
North 640 06' 15" West 314.27 feet along said line
and boundary to an angle point therein; thence North
50° 11' 45" West 656.55 feet continuing along said
line and boundary to the Point of Beginning.
Section 2: The above parcel of property legally
described in Section 1 shall be subjected to taxation after
annexation equally with property within the City of Newport
Beach to pay any indebtedness and liabilities of the City of
Newport Beach outstanding, contracted, authorized, or existing
prior to, or at the time of annexation.
Section 3: The boundaries of the City of Newport
Beach, California, shall be, and the same are hereby altered
to include the territory described in Section 1 of this
• Resolution.

Section 4: The City Clerk is hereby directed to
file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Secretary
of State.
