A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DETERMINING THAT THE CONSTRUC-
TION OF THE INDOOR SHOOTING RANGE AND INSTALLATION
OF RANGE HARDWARE AT THE JAMBOREE ROAD POLICE
FACILITY MAY BE PERFORMED BETTER AND MORE
ECONOMICALLY BY THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City Council has appropriated the sum
of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) to be used for the installa-
tion of an indoor shooting range at the Jamboree Road Police
Facility; and
WHEREAS, Section 1110 of the Newport Beach City Charter
provides in part that the City Council may, without advertising
for bids for Public Works projects which exceed Twelve Thousand
Dollars ($12,000), declare and determine, based on estimates
approved by the City Manager, that the work in question may be
performed better and more economically by the City with its
own employees or the supplies or materials may be purchased more
economically on the open market; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has submitted a report to the
Council containing estimates and the necessary justification
that the installation of the Indoor Shooting Range at the Jamboree
Road Police Facility should be accomplished in accordance with
the procedures contained in Section 1110 of the Charter as set
forth hereinabove;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby finds and declares that
pursuant to Section 1110 of the Newport Beach City Charter the
construction of the Indoor Shooting Range and the installation of
range hardware at the Jamboree Police Facility may be performed
better and more economically by the City and may be performed
without advertising for bids.
