HomeMy WebLinkAbout8636 - State Police OlympicsRESOLUTION NO. 8636 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ENDORSING THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS THE SITE FOR THE STATE POLICE OLYMPICS • WHEREAS, the California State Police Athletic Federation holds annual Olympic Games with participation by several thousand law enforcement officers from throughout the state; and WHEREAS, these games are held during August at sites alternately in the northern and southern sections of the state; and WHEREAS, the games have not been held in the County of Orange since 1967; and WHEREAS, the games provide an opportunity for rigorous competition between Police Officers in some 40 events of sports and professional activities including markmanship; and WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange has outstanding facilities for the games as well as accomodations and recreation for the families of participating officers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California endorses the selection of the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange as the site of the 1977 California State Police Olympics; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Newport Beach recommends such selection to the California State Police Athletic Federation.
