RESOLUTION NO. 8845
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH COMMENDING WINSTON R.
UPDEGRAFF WHO IS RETIRING AS EXECUTIVE
SECRETARY OF THE ORANGE COUNTY DIVISION,
LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES
WHEREAS, Winston R. Updegraff has dedicated more
than forty -five years of service to the League of California
Cities, serving as Executive Secretary for the Orange County
Division for the last thirteen years; and
WHEREAS, prior to his appointment as Executive
Secretary, Winston Updegraff was the first editor and manager,
of Western City Magazine, which he published for the California
League for more than thirty years; and
WHEREAS, in his capacity as Executive Secretary,
Winston Updegraff has distinguished himself among municipal
officials throughout California and has received numerous
honors, including recognition by the California City Managers
Association and the Los Angeles and Orange County Boards of
Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, Winston Updegraff is winding up his career,
and the City Council of the City of Newport Beach wishes to
recognize and commend him for his substantial contribution
toward improving the quality of city government during his
tenure with the League of California Cities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby commends Winston R: Updegraff
for his many years of dedicated service to the League of
California Cities and .extends to him their heartfelt appreciation,
as well as warmest wishes for many happy years of retirement,
