A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING SALARY INCREASES,
FRINGE BENEFITS AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE NEWPORT BEACH FIRE
FIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION
• NO. 8831
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 7173 of the City Council

of the City of Newport Beach provided that the City Representa-
tive and the Representatives of the Newport Beach Fire Fighters
Association will meet and confer in good faith regarding matters
within the scope of representation; and
WHEREAS, the City Representative and the Representa -'
tives of the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association have met
and conferred in good faith on the matters within the authority
of such representatives; and
WHEREAS, no agreement was reached as to alterations
of salaries, fringe benefits and other conditions of employment
within the scope of representation and this fact was presented
to the City Council on June 28, 1976; and
WHEREAS, the City Council directed on June 28, 1976,
that additional negotiations occur between the Fire Fighters
Association Representatives and the City Representative; and
WHEREAS, the negotiations undertaken at City Council
direction resulted in no agreement and on July 12, 1976, the
City Council adopted Resolution No. 8831, establishing certain
salary increases and fringe benefits as set forth in said
Resolution, which were found to be fair and equitable; and
WHEREAS, on July 26, 1976, at the request of the
Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association, the City Council recon-
sidered their action in adopting Resolution No. 8831; and
• WHEREAS, the City Council voted to rescind Resolution
No. 8831 and in its place adopt this Resolution setting forth
salary increases, fringe benefits and other terms and conditions

of employment for the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association
as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby set the salaries,
fringe benefits and other terms and conditions of employment
as specifically set forth on attached Exhibit "A ".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 8831
is hereby rescinded.

EXHIBIT "A"
EXHIBIT "A" establishes salary increases, fringe
benefits and other terms and conditions of employment for
the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association.
1. Salaries and Wages. All employees represented
by the Newport Beach Fire Fighters Association will receive
an increase in their salary in the amount of 5.28 for the
1976 -1977 fiscal year, effective July 17, 1976. In addition,
Paramedics assigned to the Emergency Medical Services Division
or assigned to paramedic duty for a minimum of six (6) twenty-
four (24) hour shifts per month, shall receive a ten percent
(10 %) increase as incentive pay over and above the 5.2 %.salary'
increase, effective July 17, 1976.
2. Fringe Benefits and Other Terms and Conditions
of Employment. All fringe benefits and other terms and
conditions of employment as set forth in that certain Memorandum
of Understanding between the City of Newport Beach and the
Newport Beach Fire FightersNAssociation, a recognized employee,
organization, executed July 7, 1975, and approved by the City
Council of the City of Newport Beach by Resolution No. 8536
adopted July 14, 1975, not inconsistent herewith, shall remain,
in full force and effect.
