RESOLUTION NO. 8884
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH RECOMMENDING THAT THE ORANGE
COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AMEND THE APPROVED
REVENUE SHARING ALLOCATION OF $100,000.00 FOR
THE ACQUISITION OF LOTS AT INSPIRATION POINT
TO THE ACQUISITION OF LAND IN WEST NEWPORT
FOR PARK PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City has applied for and received
approval of the expenditure of $100,000.00 of County Revenue
Sharing Funds for the acquisition of two lots in Corona del
Mar at Inspiration Point; and
WHEREAS, said Revenue Sharing Funds were to be
supplemented by an appropriation from the State of California
to complete the transaction to acquire said lots without the
expenditure of City funds; and
WHEREAS, the money from the State of California has
not been appropriated by the State Legislature and apparently
will not be forthcoming in the future; therefore, the acquisition
of the Inspiration Point lots are no longer economically feasible
at this time; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to use said $100,000.00
of County Revenue Sharing Funds for an alternate project to
acquire two acres of land in West Newport for development of a
park that will ultimately be eight acres in size, containing six
tennis courts, four restrooms, offstreet parking for park and
beach use, open turf play and sand volleyball courts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that the City requests that the
Orange County Board of Supervisors amend the approved Revenue
Sharing Allocation of $100,000.00 for the acquisition of lots
in Inspiration Point from that project to the acquisition of
land for West Newport Park.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be
authorized to sign, on behalf of the City, any agreements or
amendments related to this resolution.
4PBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to send a copy of this resolution to
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange.
