A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH IN SUPPORT OF STATE TAX
REFORM LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, property taxes in California are near the
highest in the nation and continue to increase each year;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council is vitally concerned that
equitable tax reform is needed, and needed immediately to solve
this growing tax crisis; and
WHEREAS, the State Legislature should give the highest
priority to enacting appropriate major property tax relief
legislation when they go back into session;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach wishes to go on record in strong
support of property tax reform legislation aimed at providing
an equitable solution to the statewide property tax burden.
