HomeMy WebLinkAbout8941 - General Obligation Bond Election - 3-8-1977• FRS:pw RESOLUTION NO. 8941 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE THE GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND ELECTION OF SAID CITY TO BE HELD ON MARCH 8, 1977; WITH THE NEWPORT -MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT ELECTIONS TO BE HELD ON THE SAME DATE WHEREAS, this City Council has commenced proceedings for the calling of a general obligation bond election in the City to be held on March 8, 1977; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said general obligation bond election be consolidated with the Newport -Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District elections to be held on the same date and that within the City the precincts, polling places and election officers for the three elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors canvass the returns of the City general obligation bond election and that said Newport -Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District elections and said general obligation bond election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: SECTION 1. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange be and it is hereby requested to consolidate the general obligation bond election to be held in said City on March 8; 1977, with the Newport -Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District elections to be held on said date. SECTION 2. That the exact form of the proposition to be voted upon at said general obligation bond election as the same shall appear on the ballot is as follows: -1- Shall the City of Newport Beach acquire land for open space and make minimum improvements on park sites by incurring a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of Seven Million One Hundred Thousand Dollars, of which approximately 90% would be used for land acquisition and the remain- der for park improvements, and all expenses incidental to or connected with the authorization, issuance and sale of the bonds? • That the proposal shall be designated on the ballot by a letter printed on the left margin of the square containing the description of the measure, as provided in Section 10219 of the Elections Code. SECTION.3. That the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said City general obligation bond election, and that said general obligation bond election and said Newport -Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District elections shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used. SECTION 4. That said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue to all officers of said County charged with duties pertaining to said Newport -Mesa Unified School District and Coast Community College District elections instructions to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. SECTION. 5. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors of said County and with the Registrar of Voters of said County.
