A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO INTERVENE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH AND BECOME A PARTY IN THE APPLICATION
• OF NORTH CENTRAL AIRLINES BEFORE THE CIVIL
AERONAUTICS BOARD FOR ROUTE AUTHORITY BETWEEN
THE TWIN CITIES AND ORANGE COUNTY
WHEREAS, North Central Airlines, Inc. has filed
an application with the Civil Aeronautics Board for an Amendment
of its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for
route authority between the Twin Cities and Orange County,
Docket Nos. 30937 and 30942; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is on record
officially opposed to any further expansion of Orange County
Airport; and
WHEREAS, any increased commercial jet air carrier
service at Orange County Airport will have a serious adverse
environmental impact upon the health, safety and welfare of
the citizens residing in the City of Newport Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes the City Attorney
on behalf of the City of Newport Beach to file the appropriate
pleadings with the Civil Aeronautics Board to become a party
to the applications of North Central Airlines, Inc., Docket
Nos. 30937 and 30942;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach opposes the granting by the Civil
Aeronautics Board of any route authority to North Central
Airlines which would terminate at or serve Orange County Airport.
