A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH OFFICIALLY DESIGNATING
SEPTEMBER 19, 1977 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 1977
• AS A SPECIAL TIME FOR OBSERVING AND CONTRIBUTING
TO THE WORTHWHILE EFFORTS OF THE UNITED WAY
WHEREAS, the United Way is engaged in a community
endeavor aimed at uniting the donors, providers and consumers
of service to meet the human service needs of the community;
and
WHEREAS, one out of every three citizens in Orange
County benefits from the work being performed by the more than
76 United Way human service agencies; and
WHEREAS, the United Way annual campaign is the most
efficient means of supporting a network of human services and
reducing the number of costly appeals by individual agencies;
and
WHEREAS, the United Way operates at the least cost;
therefore, delivering the maximum contributed dollars to the
76 human services agencies; and
WHEREAS, each year over 10,000 volunteers donate their
time and their talent to furthering the work performed by the
United Way and its agencies; and
WHEREAS, when you make your contribution to the
United Way, you are giving the gift that gives back -- back to
your neighbor and back to yourself.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby officially designate
September 19, 1977 through September 30, 1977 as a special time
• for observing and contributing to the worthwhile efforts of
the United Way.
ADOPTED this 12th day of September 1977.
