A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SETTING FORTH THE TOTAL
MEMBERSHIP OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE, TOGETHER WITH
CERTAIN PROCEDURAL RULES; AND RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 8656
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 7705, the Environmental
Quality Citizens Advisory Committee was established for the
purpose of identifying areas of actual or potential environmental
problems; gathering and studying facts and other information
relative to these problems, and suggesting various alternative
solutions; and identifying and setting forth the economic, social
and environmental cost - benefits involved in regulating environ-
mental quality; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that such Environmental
Quality Citizens Advisory Committee should be comprised of
fourteen (14) members; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, at its meeting of
October 9, 1973, approved certain procedural rules of said
Committee, and approved changing the number of voting members
of a total of fourteen (14);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that:
1. The Environmental Quality Citizens Advisory
Committee shall be composed of fourteen (14) citizens to be
appointed by the City Council, with each Councilman appointing
two (2) members, both of whom shall possess full voting rights;
2. A quorum shall consist of one -third (1 /3) of any
currently serving membership, but not less than five (5) persons;
3. If an appointee is absent from three consecutive
meetings, while not absent from the County, this fact shall be
reported to the appointing Councilman;
4. Any letter written by a member of the Committee,
representing the Committee or stating any recommendation made
or action taken by the Committee, must be approved by the
Chairman or the Vice - Chairman before being mailed or delivered,
and a copy delivered to the Secretary for filing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 8656 is
hereby rescinded.
