A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL
OF THE LOCAL COASTAL PROGRAM ISSUE IDENTIFICA-
TION AND WORK PROGRAM, REVISED MARCH 16, 1978,
AND FUNDING APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA
COASTAL COMMISSION
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is in the process
of preparing and adopting a Local Coastal Program as defined
by the Coastal Act of 1976; and
WHEREAS, as a stage in the development of the Local
Coastal Program the preparation of an Issue Identification
and Work Program is necessary; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to make
application for a Coastal Zone Management Grant to facilitate
the planning study necessary prior to adoption of a Local
Coastal Program; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of
Newport Beach has held two (2) public hearings on the Local
Coastal Program Issue Identification and Work Program, revised
March 16, 1978; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach has held a public hearing on the Local Coastal Program
Issue Identification and Work Program; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach desires to submit the Local Coast Program Issue Identifi-
cation and Work Program and funding application to the California
Coastal Commission, consistent with the Coastal Act of 1976, and
specifically, under authority of the California Government Code
section 34200 for planning assistance and the receipt of financial
assistance from the California Coastal Commission, as authorized
by inter - agency agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes submittal of the
Local Coastal Program Issue Identification and Work Program,
revised March 16, 1978, and the funding application to the
California Coastal Commission to provide financial assistance
not to exceed the amount of $ 144,495.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Office of Planning
and Research to provide planning assistance under authority
of the Government Code of the State of California. Such
planning assistance is more particularly described in a project
description that is attached hereto and made a part hereof by
this Resolution as if fully set forth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the
City of Newport Beach be, and he is hereby authorized and empowered
to execute on behalf of the City of Newport Beach, all necessary
applications, contracts and agreements, and amendments thereto,
to implement and carry out the purposes specified in this
Resolution.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 27th
day of March , 1978.
