A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
• OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO ALLOCATE SAFER OFF - SYSTEM ROADS
PROGRAM FUNDS FOR THE 1977 -78 FISCAL YEAR
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach by Resolution has
approved the Orange County Safer Off - System Roads and the method
of distribution of funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has identified the
need for safety improvements for portions of certain eligible
City streets that are not on a Federal system; and
WHEREAS, the County of Orange, by appropriate action,
intends to allocate the Safer Off - System Roads Program funds to
eligible agencies on a fiscal year basis for said safety
improvements;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from the Safer
Off - System Roads Program funds the amount of $17,993, said
amount to be matched by funds from said City based on the approxi-
mate ratio of 83% Safer Off - System Roads Program funds to a
minimum of 17% City funds for the construction of said safety
improvements;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City's Director of
Public Works is hereby directed to submit this request to the
Orange County Board of Supervisors through the County's Arterial
• Highway Financing Program Technical Staff; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City's Director of
Public Works is hereby directed to prepare and submit at the
earliest opportunity the necessary field review forms to the
California Department of Transportation, District 7, for their
• required review of the proposed project(s); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public
Works is hereby directed to prepare the necessary plans,
specifications and estimate of cost for the construction of
said project and to submit those documents on or before
September 15, 1979, to the California Department of Transportation,
District 7, for their review and approval.
