A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING CERTAIN OF ITS
• MEMBERS TO FILE A WRITTEN ARGUMENT AGAINST A
CITY INITIATIVE MEASURE
WHEREAS, an election is to be held in the City of

Newport Beach on November 7, 1978, at which there will be
submitted to the qualified electors of said City the
following City initiative measure:
Shall the City of Newport Beach adopt an
ordinance submitted as an initiative measure
entitled AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING DEDICATION OF
STREETS IN SUBDIVISIONS) ON BLUFF(S) ADJOINING
NEWPORT BAY AND /OR PACIFIC OCEAN; said ordinance
containing a general requirement that whenever
any subdivision of previously unsubdivided land
is situated on a bluff that adjoins Newport Bay
and /or the Pacific Ocean, there shall be a public
street dedicated (including all access streets
thereto) to be located between the development
and not less than 25 feet from the edge of undi-
minished bluff with local park dedication require-
ments applied to that area?
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes to be filed on
its behalf a written argument against a City initiative measure
set forth in the recitals hereof in accordance with Chapter 3,
Article 1, Section 4015 of the Elections Code of the State of
California.
