A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING CIVIL SERVICE RULES
AND REGULATIONS SECTION 501.2.3.2(d)(4) RELA-
TING TO REINSTATEMENT OF FORMER EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, Section 501.2.3.2(d)(4) of the Civil Service
Rules and Regulations permits reinstatement of a former employee,
irrespective of the existence of an open or promotional employ-
ment list for the class if the reinstatement occurs within one
year after the employee's termination; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board is recommending that
said Section be amended to permit reinstatement of a former
employee to the class of position he occupied at the time of his
termination if the reinstatement occurs within two years after
the termination of the employee; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the amendment
as suggested by the Civil Service Board,
NOW,.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby approves an amendment to the
Civil Service Rules and Regulations to permit a former employee
to be reinstated to the class of position he occupied at the
time of his termination, irrespective of the existence of an
open or promotional employment list for the class if the reinstate-
ment occurs within two years after the termination of the employee.
