A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH HONORING DONALD E. SMALLWOOD
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS A BOARD MEMBER
OF THE NEWPORT -MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, since 1971 DONALD E. SMALLWOOD has served
as a member of the Board of Education of the Newport -Mesa
Unified School District with three terms as President of that
body, 1973 -74, 1976 -77 and 1978 -79; and
WHEREAS, during this time the said DONALD E. SMALLWOOD
has honored untold members of students, staff members and
residents of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, DONALD E. SMALLWOOD has announced his inten-
tion to resign from the Board of Education of the Newport -Mesa
Unified School District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Newport
Beach, through its Council, takes great pleasure in honoring
DONALD E. SMALLWOOD for his outstanding service as a Board
Member, for his commitment to local government and to quality
education for all, for the integrity he has demonstrated
consistently during his years of service, and for the care and
concern he has displayed in reaching sometimes difficult
decisions affecting the welfare of students, and the communities
he has represented.
