A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING TOW CHARGES,
STORAGE RATES AND AFTER -HOURS RELEASE FEES
FOR THE OFFICIAL POLICE TOW TRUCK SERVICES
AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 9703
WHEREAS, on January 7, 1980, the City Council
adopted Resolution No. 9703 establishing towing charges
and storage rates for the official police tow truck
services; and
WHEREAS, certain discrepancies in said resolution
have appeared in regard to the method of computation of
storage rates and the necessity of charging an after -hours
business opening fee or release fee; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to clarify the
appropriate towing charges and storage rates for the official
police tow truck services; and
WHEREAS, Harbor Towing and G & W Towing have
agreed to be bound by the fee schedule hereinafter set forth,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that the following towing charges
and storage rates for the official police tow truck services
be established:
TOWING CHARGES. Towing charges shall be based
per tow truck, on an hourly rate or percentage thereof
on time actually consumed with a minimum charge of:

Storage rates shall be computed for a 24 -hour
day, from the time of tow.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that:

1. Business hours are established at 7:00 a.m. to
9:00 p.m. seven days a week;
2. The after business hours opening for inspection
or release of vehicles is established at $5.00;
3. Vehicles will be released without a storage fee
charged regardless of the hour of release, when the release
request occurs within a 12 -hour period from actual storage or
impound.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 9703 be
and hereby is RESCINDED.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to retain this fee schedule on file to be made avail-
able to interested citizens upon request and to forward a copy
thereof to the official police towing service companies.
