A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH STATING ITS OPPOSITION
TO THE REQUEST BY THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
GAS COMPANY FOR A RATE INCREASE
' WHEREAS, the Southern California Gas Company on March 7,
1980 asked the California Public Utilities Commission for a
$383,000,000.00 rate increase; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that the rate increase will add to
inflation at an inappropriate time; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
urges that such a large rate increase not be permitted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach that it opposes the proposed rate
increase by the Southern California Gas Company presently
pending before the California Public Utilities Commission.
