• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CON-
SOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WITH THE STATEWIDE
GENERAL ELECTION PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302
OF THE CALIFORNIA ELECTIONS CODE
WHEREAS, a special municipal election is to be held
in the City of Newport Beach on November 4, 1980, relating to
an amendment to the existing Freeway Agreement with the State
of California relating to the Corona del Mar Freeway; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that said special municipal
election be consolidated with the statewide election to be held
on the same date, and that within the City of Newport Beach
the precincts, polling places and election officers of the two
elections be the same and that the special municipal election
be held in all respects as if there were only one election,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as
follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of
Section 23302 of the Elections Code of the State of California,
the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange be and hereby
is requested that said Board consent to and agree to the con-
solidation of a special municipal election with the statewide
election to be held on November 4, 1980, for the purpose of
submitting to the qualified voters of said City a City measure
• relating to an amendment to the existing Freeway Agreement
with the State of California relating to the Corona del Mar
Freeway.

• SECTION 2. The ballot measure to be submitted to
the qualified voters of said City is as follows:
Proposition A
Shall the City Council be given the authority,
pursuant to the provisions of Section 422 of the
Charter of the City of Newport Beach, to negoti-
ate and enter into an agreement to amend the
existing Route 73 (Corona del Mar) Freeway Agree-
ment in the Bristol Street - Campus Drive -
Jamboree Road - MacArthur Boulevard area by pro-
viding for design in accordance with current
traffic needs and engineering standards?
SECTION 3. That the polls for said election shall
be opened and remain open and close to coincide with the polls
for the statewide election to beheld on the same day.
SECTION 4. That on the ballots to be used for said
special election, in addition to any other matters required by
law, there shall be printed substantially the following:

SECTION 7. That the City Clerk shall certify to
the passage and adoption of this resolution, shall enter the
same in the book of original resolutions of said City, and
shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in
the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said
City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is
passed and adopted.
SECTION 8. That this resolution shall take effect
immediately.
