HomeMy WebLinkAbout9890 - Launching Vessels at Rhine Wharf Park• RESOLUTION NO. 9890 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE LAUNCHING OF A VESSEL AT RHINE WHARF PARK FOR SEPTEMBER 24, 1980, PURSUANT TO SECTION 17.16.020 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE. WHEREAS, Section 17.16.020 of the Newport Beach Munic- ipal code provides that the City Council may designate vessel launching or hauling sites by adoption of a resulution; and WHEREAS, a request has been presented to the City Council to launch a 54 foot Catamaran at Rhine Wharf Park on Wednesday, September 24, 1980; and WHEREAS, it is found and determined that there are no other practical launch sites within the City of Newport Beach available for launching of said vessel; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said launching could have no effect on the environment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that Rhine Wharf Park may be used as a launching site on September 24, 1980, after 8:00 a.m. and prior to 8:00 p.m. As a further condition of said launching, the applicant shall obtain a partial "Street Closure Permit," the Marine Department, Police Department, Fire Department of the City of Newport Beach and Harbor Department of the County of Orange shall be notified 24 hours in advance of the exact time of launch, the crane launching said vessel shall be placed a minimum of 25 feet landward of the concrete bulkhead at Rhine Wharf Park, cribbing shall be placed under the crane outriggers to protect the street surface, the boat hauling company and crane company shall agree to hold the City harmless from any liability arising out of the launching, that each party be responsible to the City of Newport Beach for damage to City property and that the boat hauling company and /or crane company shall provide the City of 1 • Newport Beach evidence of liability :insurance insuring against death or injury of one person in the amount of $500,000, death or injury to two or more persons in the amount of not less than $500,000 and damage to property not :Less than $500,000.
